Case Study of Expected Loss Failure Mode and Effect Analysis Model Based on Maintenance Data

Failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) is one of the most widely employed pre-evaluation techniques to avoid risks during product design manufacturing phases. Risk priority number (RPN), a risk assessment indicator used in FMEA, field due its simple calculation process, but limitations as an absolute have been pointed out. There has also criticism unstructured nature lack systematicity FMEA procedures. This work proposes expected loss-FMEA (EL-FMEA) model that organizes procedures structures quantitative metrics. In EL-FMEA model, collectible maintenance record data defined based on this, failure rate components systems downtime uptime system are calculated. Moreover, these calculated values, economic loss computed considering detection time. It provides alternative coefficient evaluate whether or not installed improve failure. Finally, case study was conducted data, application procedure presented detail, practicality this verified through results.
